Ivan Alonso, winegrower and wine specialist, is the manager and creator of Algil Wineries and Vineyard.
This is a unipersonal wine project within the ‘Toro’ Designation of Origin, where the most unique wines of the area are produced.
We give the greatest importance to the land, our raw material, making the most rigorous controls of it and taking care of it at all times to achieve excellence.

A new wave of renewal, of personal interpretations, of subtlety and a markedly innovative character is sweeping through the fields and vineyards of Toro.
I grew up surrounded by vineyards. In essence, I am part of this world and I cannot conceive of any other life if it is not surrounded by the vines that point to the sky, among the stony and sandy soils of Toro.
After having trained and worked in different wineries in the area -including 12 years in the Tempos Vega Sicilia group-, in 2017 I decided to develop this personal project that I had in mind since I was a child. A learning path that never ends and that I continue at the pace set by each cycle of the vine.
My goal, like that of many winemakers in the area, is to give expression to this avant-garde trend, giving way to new Toro wines. New wines that respect the tradition that has made this appellation great, but always looking to the future: a future that promises to be exciting.

Algil is the first step
With our own vineyards of between 25 and 110 years old, located in the municipalities of San Román de Hornija and Morales de Toro, the land where our Toro red wine is made, we seek the uniqueness of the wine and transmit the characteristics of the area.
